An auto-responder provides you with all the e-mail marketing tools you will need.  They store your lists for you and also track your list activity.  When you are setting up your squeeze page they will provide you with the proper code you need for your website in order for the opt-in box to show up and work on the webpage.  Some popular auto responders are Aweber and GetResponse.

Many of us do not have the skills needed to properly code and put together a website from scratch – or even if you do know how you may lack the expensive software needed.  There is some fantastic software out on the market that makes putting a squeeze page together very easy.

If you are a fan of using WordPress to put together your websites then there are two great products out there that integrate with wordpress and allow you to build highly functional, attractive and professional looking squeeze pages with relatively little effort on your part.  They are:  Optimize Press and Squeeze Boss

- should be easy to read and the page should ‘flow’
- keep the layout simple (don’t want distracting/overpowering graphics)
- key message and opt-in box should be above the fold

Squeeze Page Copy:
- less can often mean more
- Follow the A.I.D.A. principle (see below) when writting your copy

The first page a visitor sees when visiting a website is the ‘landing page’ for that website.  In some cases the ‘landing page’ may be a squeeze page.  However, if you are directed to the squeeze page after entering the site (this may be through a link, advertisement, etc.) then the squeeze page is not the ‘landing page’ for that website.

Either way the landing page should be targeted at the website visitor and aim to catch their attention and engage them in such a way that they feel compelled to enter their details into your opt-in form (or proceed to the opt-in form page if it is not located on the landing page.)

Does Google like squeeze pages – the answer is ‘NO’, and they particularly do not like squeeze pages that stand alone and are a pure sales tool.  It is much more likely to get a ‘hybrid’ squeeze page ranked on google, such as a squeeze page that combines many of the traditional elements but also utilizes embeded YouTube video(s).

If you want your squeeze page to rank on Google it’s possible but may require some work.  If your squeeze page has good quality content and is focused around a specific set of keywords then there is no reason you can’t get your squeeze page ranked on Google.

The only difference with a  video squeeze page is that the video serves the same purposes as the headline and text on a traditional squeeze page.  Over the past few years video squeeze pages have increased in popularity as more individuals have access to computers, smart phones and fast internet connnections, in addition it is now easier and inexpensive to make web-compatible videos.

You will also find traditional squeeze pages that contain a video within them but also include the traditional text as well.  Personally, I think this hybrid between the two can be particularly effective especially if youare looking to get a ranking on Google as you can link in with YouTube videos (which Google loves) and provide content with the text portion of the webpage.

The type of squeeze page used will depend on the type of information that needs to be presented and the audience you are looking to target.

Ok, but what are squeeze pages used for?  When you land on a squeeze page you will most likely be presented with information on a particular subject and then provided with some kind of benefit in exchange for providing your contact details.

For example, you are on this website right now because you want to know: What are squeeze pages? So I would want to offer you some kind of free answer/solution to your question in exchange for your contact details.  Which is exactly why, if you wanted access to a free module from a course devoted to list building by utilizing squeeze pages then you would enter your name and e-mail in the form on the right-hand-side of this website.  (Go on and look there now and you will see…)  After you enter your details, at that point you would then be asked to ‘confirm’ by clicking a link within an e-mail you were just sent.  Why?  By clicking the link in the e-mail it confirms that you entered a valid e-mail address.  At this point you will be sent to our download page, where you can download a free Module 1 of the List Building Firestorm Series.  It’s that simple…so give it a try and you can see the process for yourself.

You will find some slight differences on some squeeze pages, for example you may not be asked to ‘confirm’ in an e-mail, and instead you would be sent straight to the download/offer page.  While this may seem like the easier option it is not usually the best option…if you are the website visitor you might be leery of squeeze pages that don’t require a ‘confirmation’ because they may end up sending you spam.  If you are a business it doesn’t make sense because the ‘confirm’ step ensures you are getting a valid e-mail address.

Different individuals and business will use squeeze pages for different reasons, but the primary reason is to build a potential customer list.  If someone is interested in the free offer you are giving away then it is logical that they may be interested in purchasing products that are similar.  Every time someone enters their details into your squeeze page (and ‘confirm’) their name/email is added to your ‘list’.  Now when you have a product to promote you can send an e-mail out to your ‘list’ telling them all about the offer, the goal obviously being to make sales.
